Christopher, the protagonist of the novel, is quirky and strange just like any one of us and is one of the most lovable protagonists in literature. A teenager with a love for maths and logic, he becomes obsessed with solving the case of the death of his neighbour's dog (hence the title). This obsession with becoming Detective Christopher leads him onto a path of self-discovery, maturity and growth. It's a story that manages to be moving and funny in equal measure.
Not only is it an exceptional novel, it is an exceptional play too. I urge you to go and see it: it's in Newcastle this June!
